What happens if you don't pass the test?

Results arrive in October

Results from the first citizenship test, held on 15 August 2026, are published in October 2026 on your UHR account. Results are also automatically reported on to the Swedish Migration Agency, which handles your ongoing citizenship application.

If you don't pass

UHR has not yet published detailed rules about retakes — but according to UHR's own information, you can retake the test the next time registration opens. If you have questions about what applies specifically to you, the advice is to contact the Swedish Migration Agency directly, since they handle your application.

The first test was a pilot test

Worth knowing: the first test, on 15 August 2026, was a so-called pilot test with generous time for all participants — UHR's way of testing the setup before the system is fully established.

Practice smarter for the retake. Medborgarplugg's "Weak questions" mode only shows questions you've previously answered incorrectly, so you can spend your time on exactly what you need to improve — instead of going through all the material from the start again.
